Let’s Talk About Health

Let’s continue talking about fibromyalgia,

Diagnosis:
Fibromyalgia cannot be diagnosed through physical exams, blood and
urine tests or imaging tests, though results may be used to rule out other
conditions. Previously, fibromyalgia diagnosis required a tender point
exam of 18 specific points on the body. Because widespread body pain is
the main feature of fibromyalgia, health care providers will ask you to
describe your pain. This may help tell the difference between fibromyalgia
and other conditions such as HYPOTHYROIDISM (underachieve thyroid
gland) and POLYMYALGIA RHEUMATICA sometimes mimic fibromyalgia.
Blood tests can tell if you have either of these problems. Unlike fibromyalgia, these rheumatic diseases cause inflammation in the joints
and tissues.

Some Doctors say that it is the thalamus that it is affected, it is the area in
the brain that controls pain. Thickening the tendons and causing muscle
pain. There are 9 women affected; by 1 man, most of which occur during
the reproductive season.

Treatment:
In Europe, they approved the use of transcranial magnetic stimulators to
retune the thalamus to recover functionality. Some people develop gluten
and/or dairy intolerances, so avoid foods that contain it.

The Mayo Clinic recommend; medication and self-care strategies. The
emphasis is on minimizing symptoms and improving general health. NO
ONE TREATMENT WORKS FOR ALL SYMPTOMS,BUT TRYING A VARIETY
OF TREATMENT STRATEGIES CAN HAVE A CUMULATIVE EFFECTIVE.

MEDICATIONS

Medication can help reduce the pain of fibromyalgia and improve sleep.

Lifestyle and home remedies
Self-care is critical in the management of fibromyalgia.

  • Stress management; develop a plan to avoid or limit overexertion and
emotional stress. Allow yourself time each day to relax. That may mean
learning to say no without guilt. But try not to change your routine
completely. People who quit work or drop activity tend to dowers than do those remain active.
  • Sleep hygiene; because fatigue is one of the main components of
fibromyalgia, getting good quality sleep is essential.
  • Exercise regularly. At first, exercise may increase your pain. But doing
it gradually and regularly often decreases the symptoms; walking,
swimming, biking and water aerobics like aqua Zumba, stretching,
    physical therapist can help.
  • Pace yourself. Keep your activity on an evil level. If you do too much in
your good days , you may have more bad days. Moderation is a key, not
too much/ and not too little.
  • Maintain a healthy lifestyle. Eat healthy foods. Do not used tobacco
products. Limit your caffeine intake. Do something that you find
    enjoyable and fulfilling every day.
  • Avoid process food; eat more vegetables, berries and nuts.

  • Meditation / yoga.
  • Acupuncture.
  • Massage Therapy.
  • Tai chi.
