Let’s Talk About Health

Let’s define the word Health:

  • Soundness, especially of body or mind; freedom from disease or
    abnormality.
  • A condition of optimal well-being.
  • Health, according to WHO (World Health Organization), is a state of
complete physical, mental and social well-being.
    • There are many definitions, we can think or understand that a person
may be physically fit and be tormented with mental complexes such as
worries, stress, anxiety, cravings, etc. This is not health or we can say
the person is not healthy. Conversely, another person may be very ill
and yet be internally joyous, who is experiencing the fullness of life,
peace and spiritual awareness. This person is healthier than the other
    one.

People that contracted hereditary disease and work to overcome it with a
positive attitude are in better health than the one without physical disease but living in discontent. However, adversity, struggles in life and illness of the body cannot be automatically seen as negative developments. There are some people who struggle to overcome illness and have transformed them into better human beings.

“They have no struggles; their bodies are healthy and strong.
They are free from common human burdens; they are not plagued by
human ills.” Psalms 73: 4,5

As Christians we know that all things help us to grow and strength our faith, that is why I am sure that God wants his children to be healthy and strong, he gives us in nature everything that our body needs. Let’s feed our soul, body, and heart; this way we will achieve absolute health, we will be better Christians, fathers, mothers, children, in general better human beings.
My purpose with this series of health recommendations is simply to
provide some knowledge, tools, and/or tips that help us to improve
our health in general.
Let’s start with the easiest one, WATER.

• Do you know how much water your body needs to keep all basic
functions running or the percentage of water in the human body ?
Well this percentage varies according to the stage of life in which we find
ourselves. It is estimated that 60% of body weight is water. The variation
ranges between 50-70%, depending on each stage of life:

  • Babies & Children
    • Newborns have between 70-80% water. From one year old it drops
    between 60-70%.
  • Adults
    • Between 60-65% . Elderly people less than 50% on average.
Depending on the gender there are also variations. Women have more
adipose tissue (more fat in the body) than men, so their percentage of
water in adulthood is lower than men and boys. In fact, an adult woman
needs to drink less water daily – approximately 2.2 liters than a man –
    about 3 liters.
Benefits of drinking water for the body:
  • This element plays an essential role in human life .

Functions of water in our bodies:

  • It metabolizes the nutrients in food.
  • It helps these enter the cells.
  • Lubricates the digestive system.
  • It generates saliva.
  • It improves the function of the kidneys.
  • Eliminates toxins.
  • It favors intestinal transit.
  • Cushions joints.
  • It helps with caloric expenditure.
  • It has a thermoregulatory function through sweating and breathing.
